Online Series

The Well Understood Fretboard volume 1

This course will give you the tools to understand and visualize instantly all the basic elements that exist within any major scale or major key: the scale fingerings, the triads and their inversions, the seventh chords and their inversions, as well as their corresponding arpeggios.

The Well Understood Fretboard volume 2

As in Volume 1, Michael’s approach to the guitar neck is systematic and thoughtful. He teaches you how to harness the scales, arpeggios, chords and harmonies that occur in the tonalities of natural, harmonic and melodic minor.

In the Style of Michael Valeanu

The In The Style series focus strictly on the playing style of the artist. These are not general "how to" lessons. The goal of these lessons is to give insight on a wide range of topics relevant to the musical style of the artist.

Music is like a language, and it is best learnt by surrounding yourself with better musicians. The goal of the "In The Style Series" is to give you this access, as much as possible, in the comfort of your own home !

Volume 1

Using songs such as "All The Things You Are", "Autumn Leaves" and "There will Never Be Another You", follow an in-depth study on the Jazz style of guitarist Michael Valeanu.

See below an extract from the course:

Volume 2

How to Approach A Jazz standard

During these four one-hour classes, we use the Cole Porter song "I Love You " in order to understand what my process is to efficiently learn a standard and preparing oneself to improvise over it.

With this $42 workshop, you will learn how to build the foundation ( know the tune inside and out ), prepare for improvisation ( Arpeggios, Chords, Scale ),  start the improvisation process ( build your own phrases and practice playing with the form ) and finally use an etude to apply all that you have learned as a recap.
